What is a Town Pastor

Town Pastors are Christians who look out for and support vulnerable people, giving assistance where appropriate. Being on the street to provide a presence of friendliness and care so that people can enjoy their night out, defusing any potentially aggressive situations.

Town Pastors are available to people as listeners, encouraging safe behaviour for all, and fostering good relationships between the public, the police, door staff, the local authorities and voluntary agencies.

Town Pastors, working in pairs, wearing bright distinctive jackets and headgear, are out on busy weekend nights from 10pm until the early hours. Their aim is to provide a positive influence in the town - backed by prayer which is provided by the Prayer/Town base. This is located in the middle of town, a team of people spend time in prayer for every situation that the Town Pastors may come across during there patrols. They also listen into the town link radios and can be called on the phone.

There is also a team of prayer’s that pray at home spending a hour or more praying for the teams and situations throughout the night.

Altogether the three different teams make up Sudbury Town Pastors. To become part of one of the teams see;  ‘Apply to join’
